OPPOSE RSPCA QLD’s BUDGET CUTS TO EUMUNDI WILDLIFE CENTRE - BRING BACK PAID STAFF NOW
The issue
EUMUNDI WILDLIFE REHAB CENTRE SUFFERING BUDGET CUTS - WHAT’S THE FUTURE FOR WILDLIFE?
Staff at Eumundi Rehab Centre are being put under enormous pressure by RSPCA QLD, who have cut their staffing budget.
RSPCA QLD CEO Darren Maier, wants to continue cutting paid staff (vet nurses etc) in favour of local recruiting more volunteers.
Mr Maier earns $330k per annum, plus bonuses. That’s an incredibly high salary. In fact, it’s almost half of what it costs to run Eumundi Wildlife Centre.
The centre cannot triage and treat wildlife if they don’t have vet nurses and a vet.
Unqualified volunteers will not be able to fill the void. This is devastating news for wildlife in our region.
Eumundi Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre treats and cares for 19% of ALL WILDLIFE IN QLD PRESENTED TO RSPCA QLD and they achieve this on a budget of less than $800k per annum!!
Yes, you read that correctly. The handful of staff, and one amazing vet, Dr Claude, treat 19% of all admitted wildlife across QLD and RSPCA QLD are removing their ability to do this by cutting the staff budget.
We call for the reversal of this decision and the reinstatement of the centre manager, Nurse Tami.
We believe that without the full team at Eumundi there will be a massive negative impact on our wildlife.
PROFIT BEFORE COMPASSION!
WE THOUGHT RSPCA WERE FOR ALL ANIMALS…..
