The Issue

STOP PIEDMONT TRAFFIC OVER SATURATION. The proposed Farm at Acadia Subdivision would add 83 new homes to rural farmland in Piedmont, SC—Grove Station Area-and the developers want to push gated access onto the narrow roads of Osteen Road and Freeman Lake Road, funneling all new traffic toward Piedmont Highway (SC Hwy 20).  Adding subdivision-level traffic to cut through to Piedmont Hwy will overwhelm these short, 15  and 17 feet narrow roads and add more congestion to the local area.

Are our roads and infrastructure ready for more traffic near Old Pelzer Road, the Southern Connector, and Bracken Road?
Many residents believe the answer is no—and now is the time to speak up.

As neighbors who value the safety, stability, and rural character of Piedmont, we are asking for your signature to advocate for responsible development regarding proposed project PP‑2026‑167 (The Farm at Acadia).

Our primary concern is public safety and roadway capacity. This proposal would funnel hundreds of additional daily vehicle trips from a gated subdivision onto Osteen Road and Freeman Lake Road — narrow rural roads that were never designed to carry subdivision‑level traffic. Directing new development traffic onto these roads creates predictable safety hazards, increases congestion, and places overwhelming strain on the already burdened Piedmont Highway (SC Hwy 20) corridor.

Approving this project as currently designed would also set a dangerous precedent. Once access is granted, these roads become a cut‑through route for all phases of Acadia. With more than 400 homes proposed in the main Acadia development, these same roads will inevitably be used as a shortcut between Hwy 153 (Brown Road) and Piedmont Highway, causing severe congestion, backups, and long‑term infrastructure deterioration.
