"The baboons will be safe and the residents will be happy" to quote the OM Adaptive Baboon Management Plan roll-out meeting”
Well the residents in Pringle Bay are not happy. For far too long the residents have been told that the majority of Pringle Bay residents wanted this violent management programme for the baboons.
This is inaccurate the majority of residents do not want the baboons to be managed aggressively NOR in a manner in which ENCOURAGES certain trigger happy residents and children take up arms against the baboons.
The mission of CapeNature is to protect baboons in the Overstrand they have failed to protect the baboons in Pringle Bay by handing the Overstrand Municipality the permit to manage baboons without any oversight.
The OM monitors shoot indiscriminately at the baboons with paintball markers which forces them to scatter taking refuse on properties rooftops and encouraging residents to shoot them. Every single time there has been a fatal shooting of a baboon it’s because the monitors have driven the baboons into properties.
The residents have had enough.
