This article published twenty years ago confirms that baboons have always been present in Pringle Bay.  

Furthermore, despite the current rhetoric from some sectors of the present Overstrand Municipality and some members of the Pringle Bay Rate Payers Association and some residents in Pringle Bay the baboons have always been problematic for those residents who choose to make it so. 

The Overstrand Municipality has spent millions of rands employing service providers who have used various tactics and strategies in an attempt keep the baboons away from the village which have made the situation more undesirable. 

It was suggested on the 29th April 2024 at special Ward 10 Council meeting that these tactics should be used again. 

For this reason residents in both RooiEls and Betty’s Bay have rejected this new plan for the simple and obvious reason that the plan will negatively affect all the baboon troops behaviour.
