Oppose open fencing from Vandalism in Agnes Heights
Oppose open fencing from Vandalism in Agnes Heights
The Issue
My name is Allan MacDonald and have lived in my home on Surrey Dr for 20 years. During this time, I have met many neighbors both families and single people that take pride in maintaining the peace and quiet that has been a dead-end street since 1986 when fencing was dividing the thoroughfares from the open communities of Watauga St. Many crimes have taken place as vandalism, home intrusions, car break-ins and gunshot violence that an actual bullet pierce my fence and through my shed with the slug found inside. My next-door neighbor had 5 children and put his home for sale that week after hearing this.
Our community runs with Edland, Kaley, Surrey and Esther creating over 120 homes.
Recently an owner on Surrey Dr, also a [Redacted] in middle school, had [Redacted] rip the gate open, then concerned neighbors repaired it, it was torn down removing all materials. The city installed a new gate then [Redacted] and 2 accomplices were masked up and tore open the gate again in front of us. [Redacted] feels [Redacted] family should be able to walk freely into the community. [Redacted] intentions are to tear down all fencing on our streets.
Thursday, [Redacted] came down with [Redacted] family that live in the Watauga Woods community and completely destroyed the entire fence, with jack hammer, sledgehammer and power saw to open the street to Watauga. All in front of the county police. This is totally unsafe to all who are families, and pet owners. Creating hatred among the community is intolerable. If a person climbs fencing and get hurt, the fence was there for a reason, as is a tree that a person climbs too is unsafe to climb if they get hurt. We do not need to remove the obstacle, we need to educate people.
Home values will plummet, and crime will open up a new chapter into our lives.
Please vote to restore or create an 8-foot iron fence to stop the open traffic. I worked in Metrowest for 6 years in real estate and saw much violence and crimes. Communities took action and installed these iron fencing to stop the crime.
