The Issue

My name is an ordinary resident of Odessa living comfortably in a manufactured home - these homes represent a source of affordable, dependable housing for thousands like me. This petition is focused on a new policy proposal that threatens to ban manufactured housing within Odessa.

There is considerable confusion surrounding this proposed ordinance, and it seems the city leaders have not fully considered the detrimental impacts this change could have on the community. Manufactured housing is not just a lifeline for working-class families, it also plays a vital role in our local economy. According to estimates, manufactured homes account for nearly 10% of single-family residences in Texas and contribute considerably to our economy (Source: Manufactured Housing Institute).

Moreover, adequate, affordable housing is an extreme necessity, given the current economic climate. It's imperative that city officials prioritize the welfare of its citizens before implementing significant changes.

The purpose of this petition is to prompt the city of Odessa to reconsider this proposed ordinance, take into account the livelihoods it could disrupt, and explore alternative paths that will not adversely affect those who call manufactured homes their own. To protect our homes and our neighborhoods, please sign this petition!
