Oppose new housing developments in Whittington Staffordshire
The Issue
I moved to Whittington Staffordshire for the serene village life, a dream I had nurtured through years of hard work and savings. The unique charm of this peaceful village, with its stunning landscapes and tight-knit community, drew me in and fulfilled my desire for tranquility and quietude away from the bustling city life. However, this dream is now under threat with the looming proposal of building over 300 houses spread across three different sites in our beloved Whittington.
This proposal not only disrupts the lives of current residents, but is also inherently impractical. Whittington lacks critical infrastructure like a train station or local industry necessary to accommodate an influx of new residents. The roads here are ill-prepared for the increased traffic, and the existing services are already stretched to capacity. The plans mark a drastic change that Whittington is neither ready for nor in need of.
Importantly, these developments are unwanted by the local community, yet their voices seem stifled under the pressures of developers eager to capitalize on our prized land. By refusing negotiations and standing firm against the onslaught of unsustainable development, we aim to protect Whittington's cherished characteristics which make it home for so many of us.
We call on our elected representatives to recognize the irreplaceable value of our village's identity and livability. Elected officials and planning authorities must prioritize preserving Whittington's essence over bending to development pressures that promise infrastructure strains without sustainable prospects of local employment or community enrichment.
It's time to make a stand and firmly express our collective "no" to these proposed projects. We need our representatives to step up, advocate for our needs, protect our village’s interests, and prevent Whittington from being turned into a crowded suburb devoid of its inherent village qualities.
Join us in this campaign to preserve the sanctity of Whittington Staffordshire. By signing this petition, you will help safeguard our village's future and ensure that our voices are heard loud and clear by those in positions of power. Please, add your name to protect the Whittington we love and cherish.
