Oppose MS Senate Bill 2628, the takeover of Jackson's Water System

The Issue

I am a lifelong resident of Jackson, MS, a city that is majority black and has long suffered from neglect at both the city and state level. Our water infrastructure is in dire need of repair, but recent suggestions indicate that we, the residents of Jackson, are incapable of handling federal funds designated for this purpose. It's deeply insulting and unjust.

The proposed corporate state takeover threatens to put our water system in the hands of an administration implicated in a recent welfare scandal. This same administration has shown time and again their disregard for our city's needs. We cannot allow them to control something as vital as our water.

Jackson is not just any city; it is Mississippi’s capital. Yet despite this status, we have been left behind by those who should be championing our cause at every turn. The suggestion that we cannot manage federal funds to fix our own infrastructure only adds insult to injury.

We must stand against this state takeover and demand respect for our community’s ability to govern itself without interference from those with questionable motives. We deserve better than what we've been given so far.

Join us in demanding that control over Jackson's water system remains local - because no one cares more about Jackson than its own residents do! Please sign this petition today!
