Oppose Making Donald Trump's Birthday a National Holiday
The Issue
Like many other concerned citizens, I can't help but question the priority given to making Donald Trump's birthday a national holiday. Our country has had an illustrious lineage of presidents, each of whom has left their indelible marks in shaping the nation. To celebrate one over the others raises questions about our shared values of democracy, equality, and unity. This is not a matter of political party or an affront to Mr. Trump; rather, it is a sentiment of preserving fairness and equality among our past leaders.
On the other hand, we have days of true importance and value to every citizen, such as Memorial Day and Labor Day. Memorial Day is our way to commemorate the heroic women and men who laid down their lives for our nation's freedom and safety. As for Labor Day, it is a testament to the tireless labor activists who pushed fervently for the rights and welfare of American workers, ultimately improving America's strength, prosperity, and overall well-being. These holidays have had reason to be celebrated and to be of importance to everyone there are even more holidays that have earned the right to be celebrated which is why they are on our calendar every year and why we celebrate them.
Not to disrespect president Trump but we have had several presidents before him who have yes left their mark but yet their birthdays are not a holiday, yet we don't celebrate them every year so what makes Trump so different. nothing yes he brought back tiktok, Yes he made prices on food lower but it doesn't compare to the veterans that risked their lives to make our countries safer.
Therefore why make president Trumps birthday a national holiday when we have had things of more importance happen. Things that deserve even a little recognition. People like our veterans have risked and some lost there lives protecting us so they deserve this type of recognition every year.
Creating a national holiday requires justifiable rationale and should only be done in instances that truly contribute to the shared history, identity, or values of the nation. Let us unite under this premise and consider if the proposal to make Donald Trump's birthday a national holiday meets these criteria.
Please support this petition and take a stand for a balanced recognition of our past leaders. Each voice counts - let yours be on the side of equality and fairness. Sign this petition today.
