The Issue

Let me share a personal struggle with the outrageous parking charges that residents and visitors in Salisbury are facing. Recently, I was shocked to discover that the hourly parking rates in Salisbury car parks are up to five times more expensive than other car parks within the same county.

This is not just an inconvenience—it's an unjust financial burden on everyone who lives in or visits this beautiful city. We should not have to bear such disproportionate costs simply to park our cars. This is not only unfair, but it also discourages tourism and frequent trips to local businesses that rely on customers having accessible parking options.

These exorbitant fees can add up quickly, discouraging people from enjoying the services and attractions Salisbury has to offer. It's time for us to take a stand against these outrageous charges and demand fair parking rates. We want a Salisbury that is welcoming to all, where parking charges do not deter people from visiting or spending time in our towns and cities.

We propose that local authorities review these high charges and consider implementing a cap on parking fees that brings them in line with other local car parks. This will benefit the community by encouraging more visitors and supporting local businesses, ensuring our towns remain vibrant and accessible.

Join me in calling on the Wiltshire Council and related authorities to address this critical issue. Let's work together to make parking in Salisbury fair and equitable for everyone. Please sign this petition and help us fight for reasonable parking fees in our beloved city.
