The traffic pattern on Southlake Boulevard as you approach Carroll Senior High School in Southlake, TX, is already an ongoing issue. It is something many of us have experienced firsthand, countless times. The frustration mounts as congestion builds, especially during peak school hours when young drivers and parents in a hurry struggle to get to the school. Adding a restaurant with a drive-thru close to the school as part of the, “Liberty Commons,” development will only exacerbate this issue. Of mention, we DO NOT even know what drive-thru it will be!!! 

The “Liberty Commons” development, formerly known as “Carroll Crossing” is currently under review with the second reading scheduled at the Southlake City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 20, 2025! Although the residential component has been reduced from 30 homes to 14, four commercial buildings and a drive-thru establishment are still in the proposal (these face Southlake Boulevard). This poses a significant issue with regards to increased traffic and is a safety concern.

Developments like this bring a risk of ruining what makes Southlake such a special place, all for the sake of developers' personal gain.
The issue at hand isn't isolated. It represents a growing trend where community needs and safety are overlooked in favor of commercial profits. What we decide to do with the remaining land in Southlake matters immensely, not only for us but for future generations.
