URGENT: ATTEND MEETING ON THURS, JUNE 27 @WIHS AUDITORIUM!

Back in September 2023, Crown Communications attempted to sneak in construction of a cellular tower in the vicinity of the Robert Moses Causeway North bound entry ramp from Montauk Highway.  This proposal was ultimately denied, as once the community got wind of the information, they expressed overwhelming concerns and opposition to the proposal.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed since September 2023. Crown Communications is now trying to garner public support, or more likely, hope the community doesn’t hear about their plans and try to slip it in under the radar once again! As community members, we only heard about the resurrected proposal on Thursday, June 20th, through our strong community of good neighbors. NO communication from Crown Communications, themselves.  THEY ARE TRYING TO SNEAK THE MEETING IN WITH ONLY 7 DAYS NOTICE TO OUR LOCAL REPRESENTATIVES!

There are plenty of studies concerning the negative health effects of cell tower radiation, and this proposal sits DANGEROUSLY CLOSE to a residential neighborhood, with many homes less than 50 FEET away! Additionally, it is less than half a mile from three schools and a hospital! This location is not even close to what is safe or reasonable, and lies right in the middle of a quiet residential section of our town. It should also be noted that such a cell tower was proposed AND DENIED by Good Samaritan Hospital AND St. John the Baptist HS!

Our community must show up for each other again.  Thankfully, this is what we do best here in West Islip.  Me must fight this proposal, once again, by signing this petition of opposition and showing up to the meeting on Thursday June 27th at 7pm at the West Islip HS.
