A Tractor Supply Store is proposed to be constructed at the corner of Tangerine Rd and La Cholla Blvd. This intersection is one of four designated Tier 2 Growth Areas within the Oro Valley General Plan. Tier 2 growth areas are specifically intended to serve the immediate needs of residents while minimizing impact on the community and environment. Unfortunately, the proposed development fails to meet either of these critical objectives.

The Tractor Supply Store does not align with the community-focused vision we uphold in Oro Valley. Our town deserves developments that truly cater to the day-to-day needs of its residents.  This development will forfeit the opportunity to put something on that corner that will truly serve neighboring communities and increase our quality of life.  If progressed, it will represent a complete failure to develop spaces within our community that improve quality of life.

Environmental concerns are also at play. The construction and operation of a Tractor Supply Store will disrupt local wildlife and natural spaces, degrading the very environment that attracts people to Oro Valley.  The OV General Plan states that "all growth areas should conserve natural resources and open space" and Tier 2 areas should "limit impact".   Construction of a department store and associated light pollution, noise, and waste that typically accompany such developments stand in stark contrast to these objectes and certainly against the peaceful and pristine environment our community prides itself on.

We need to ensure that the developments in our town align with our values and priorities, focusing on projects that enhance our way of life without compromising safety or environment. Let's advocate for responsible development that reflects the needs and values of our community.
