The proposed changes to By-Law No. 60 pose a detrimental impact on the members of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO). The impending changes seek to introduce an unjust annual registration fee increase (from from $470 to $643, an almost 37% increase) which is burdensome for many members. It is critical to note that CMRITO members play a pivotal role in Ontario’s healthcare system; they deserve to be supported, not excessively charged.

According to data from the Canadian Institute for Health Information, medical radiation technologists perform approximately 20 million imaging exams each year (CIHI, 2018) demonstrating their indispensable role in our healthcare. Thus, these professionals should not be overburdened with expenses that may discourage potential entrants into this crucial field.

This petition aims to clearly demonstrate to CMRITO just how many members oppose the proposed changes to By-law No. 60 in an open and uncensored forum. It’s crucial that our collective voices are heard without any restrictions, allowing us to express our concerns about the significant fee increase. By participating in this petition, we stand together to ensure that our feedback is recognized and taken seriously, reflecting the true sentiment of the membership.
