Residents of the Underhill South area can expect to get details of the outcome of the Council's informal parking engagement in the next few days.
Council officers quietly changed the feedback summary document online in recent days. It now contains more details of when parking stress surveys were supposedly undertaken but no longer includes a colour coded map.
Whilst we don't know what the outcome of the Council's exercise will be, we foresee one of the following scenarios as most likely:
1) The Council withdraws the proposal altogether, which would be the preferred option
2) The Council seeks to partially implement the controlled parking zone, splitting up the area, even though the areas where there is some element of support are deeply divided. This would also be likely to draw in roads where there was opposition to inclusion into a zone. It would also not meet the Council's stated aim of avoiding kicking the issue to the next street.
3) The Council may run roughshod over people's expressed views and implement the zone in full, with long hours Monday to Saturday.
The thing is that, due to our communications, we know that virtually all residents will now be aware that 85% of Underhill South residents oppose the CPZ proposal and that more than 70% have no parking problems.
Once we receive the outcome, we should all be ready to respond appropriately.
