Oppose a chemical company immunity shield in NC!

The Issue

We are asking for your support to oppose a chemical company liability shield that could be easily added back into SB 401 Farm Act here in North Carolina.

Grassroot efforts for 2 months have gotten this language out of the bill! But.. we aren't done yet!

Now a committee will hear the Farm Act and will decide what to ADD or REMOVE to get this passed.

We oppose any language added back into the bill that would give foreign chemical companies immunity from their toxic products. Why? Because EPA labels do not require these companies to disclose health warnings such as cancer, Parkinson's, miscarriages, developmental harm and more that have been proven to be linked to pesticides, fungicides, herbicides and more. This immunity would cover 15,000 current chemicals and any future. Once passed- we can't turn back.

Instead of giving them immunity for their harmful products, we should be holding them accountable. The courts are currently doing this. But if passed, this would prevent all valid lawsuits the ability to win against them. Bayer has paid out close to 11 billion in damages- because their products do in fact cause cancer. They should be held liable for their products, especially if they are making you SICK.

This would cover ALL chemicals in your garage, under your sink, sprayed on playgrounds, parks, farms, sporting fields, school grounds, golf courses and more. Many chemicals used here are BANNED in other countries!

Unfortunately, many of our civil servants think otherwise. After you sign, please go email these representatives reminding them this is a re-election issue. The committee is stacked against us.
