The Issue

For those of us who call Longwood Avenue home, the charm of our neighborhood lies in its residential peace and tranquility. It's a place where families have thrived, where children play safely, and where neighbors can respect each others peace. But now, this serene environment faces an imminent threat, the proposed development of a 7 Brew coffee shop.

One major concern is the expected surge in local traffic. Longwood Avenue is not equipped to handle a dramatic increase in vehicular activity, which would not only complicate navigation for residents but could potentially compromise pedestrian safety, particularly for children. Route 38 is already often congested during rush hours, and adding a high-frequency drive-thru would exacerbate the situation, leading to longer wait times and more accidents.

Beyond traffic, the development would significantly amplify noise pollution in the area. One of 7 Brews quirks is the loud playing of music through its drive- thru curated for customers from the hours of 5:30 am- 11pm. The constant music, the heightened frequency of engines revving, and increased human activity will inevitably disrupt the peace that Longwood residents cherish. This decline in the quality of life would be most felt in the early mornings and late evenings, times that families depend on for rest and rejuvenation.

Moreover, accessibility is a key issue. This development is not designed with local residents in mind, as it prioritizes drive-thru options which inherently exclude those without a vehicle, contradicting the walkable model that so many of us value in this neighborhood.

We propose to reevaluate this development plan by conducting thorough traffic and noise impact assessments to truly understand the repercussions of this project. Additionally, we urge for the exploration of alternative locations that would benefit from increased commercial activity without compromising residential welfare. Longwood Avenue deserves developments that align with its community-focused values and foster sustainable growth.

Join us in preventing the alteration of our beloved neighborhood for short-term economic gains that overlook the long-standing harmony and livability of our area. Sign this petition to protect Longwood Avenue from over-commercialization and ensure it remains a safe, peaceful place for all its residents.
