Quick Update: Ambient is Moving Forward – So Are We

Dear Neighbors,

We wanted to share a brief update with you regarding the proposed 31-unit, 5-story apartment complex in San Elijo Hills. While there are no major developments yet, we’ve confirmed that Ambient is continuing to move forward with their plans — which means we’re continuing to move forward in opposition.

What’s happening now:
We’ve received word from the city that they’re still waiting for the next submittal from the developer, which may come as soon as next week. The Development Advisory Committee (DAC) has chosen not to take action on the project. Instead, it will be sent to the City Planning Commission for a public hearing, where it will either be approved or denied.

A date for that hearing hasn’t been set yet. We’ll also notify you as soon as we know — and we strongly encourage everyone to attend in person. A strong community presence at the hearing will send a powerful message that San Elijo residents are united in opposition to this unsafe and inappropriate development.

In the meantime:

We’ve made minor updates to the petition to add more specific concerns around safety — things like rooftop deck safety, traffic impact on emergency access, and the developer's absence from community dialogue.

Please check your inbox soon — we’ll be sending out a letter-writing guide to help us flood the Planning Commission with well-informed, community-driven feedback once the hearing date is announced.

We're looking for help! Specifically, we need volunteers for:

• Outreach and flyer distribution - help us spread the word by distributing flyers on your street!
• Legal review - do you have experience with public safety, administrative and municipal, land use or zoning law - we could really use your help!
• Fire safety/ Emergency response Experience - your voice is especially valuable and you could help us craft a compelling message.
• Social media and email communications - help us spread the word online.

If you’re willing to pitch in, even just a little, we’d love to hear from you — just email us at considersehvoices@gmail.com

Thank you again for standing up for our community. Our united voices are making a difference — let’s keep the momentum going.
