The Issue

The community of Wilding Pointe, Kensington, Bronk Farms Subdivisions strongly oppose the proposed development of 36 apartment homes in three buildings planned for the property east of Van Dyke Road and north of Norwood Drive in Plainfield, IL. This development is located in Will County on parcels PIN 07-01-29-101-005-0000 and 07-01-33-200-002-0000.

This development poses significant concerns for our community. One major issue is the increased traffic congestion that will result from an influx of residents into an already crowded area. Van Dyke Road and Norwood Drive are crucial routes for school buses, emergency vehicles, and daily commuting, and are already experiencing heavy traffic during peak hours. The construction of these apartments would further exacerbate these existing issues, potentially affecting the safety and efficiency of transportation in our neighborhood.

Additionally, the aesthetic and structural integrity of the Kensington Subdivision would be compromised. The introduction of three large apartment buildings would alter the landscape and character of our neighborhood, decreasing property values for current homeowners.

We believe that suitable solutions exist. These include proposing alternative locations for such high-density projects elsewhere within Plainfield or investing in single-family homes that blend better with the existing community infrastructure.

We urge local authorities and planning committees to reconsider this development proposal and seek options that align with the community's interests and sustainability goals. By signing this petition, you are supporting the preservation and enhancement of our neighborhood's safety, environment, and character. Please sign to advocate for responsible and community-centered development in Plainfield, IL.
