Either develop the Opera Browser for Linux OS, or Open Source the code so the Linux Community can develop it.
The Issue
Opera for Linux as it stands currently is DEAD. The last version of Opera for Linux (12.16) came on July 4, 2013. It used the Presto Layout Engine. Current versions of Opera use the Blink Engine (which Google Chromium employs). Now many websites are dropping support for the Presto Engine, therefore many websites no longer function for many of Opera's end users.
Linux users have had the ability to use Google Chrome & Chromium for a while now. Also, since Steam started porting its game engine to Linux, many people are now starting to make Linux a more popular operating system. Now would be a good time for the Opera developers to start developing Opera for Linux. Or, they could let the Linux community have a crack at it. Open source the code to Opera, similar to the way Google has opened up Chromium for open source development.
Opera has since seperated the Opera Browser and their then built-in Email application. Yet no such application is being developed for Linux. This is UNACCEPTABLE. No such Opera Browser for Linux has even been started. This is UNACCEPTABLE. Either build it, or open source the code. Otherwise the Opera browser for Linux will be considered Vaporware.
