Open the Club333 Gym Hours 24/7
The Issue
We, the residents of 333 Schermerhorn Street ("Hub Brooklyn"), are calling on building management to provide 24/7 gym access at Club333.
We pay a premium to live in what is marketed as a luxury building with best-in-class amenities. Yet our gym closes early while comparable buildings in Downtown Brooklyn (eg The Brook) offer their residents 24/7 fitness center access.
This is not an unreasonable ask. It requires no additional staffing. The Club333 gym used to be open 24/7, without in person staffing supervision overnight, in the earlier days of the building. Buildings across the city provide round-the-clock gym access using a simple swipe-in system with security cameras. The pool area and other amenities can remain locked during unstaffed hours. Only the gym floor needs to stay open.
Residents work a range of schedules. Many of us want to work out late at night or early in the morning. The current hours don't accommodate that. We are paying for an amenity we can't fully use.
We are asking building management to:
- Provide 24/7 gym access.
- Lock the pool and other Club333 areas during unstaffed hours while keeping the gym floor accessible.
- Leverage the security cameras in the gym area to ensure safety during unstaffed hours.
This is a straightforward operational fix that buildings throughout New York City have already adopted. There is no reason Hub residents should have less access to their own gym than residents of neighboring buildings.
This petition is organized by the Hub Residents Association, which is not affiliated with building management. Tenant organizing by the Hub Residents Association is protected activity under NY RPL §§ 230 & 223-b.
