Every day, students at Henrico High School face the inconvenient and, at times, unbearable challenge of having to leave the main buildings to find a restroom. With over 1,000 students, the insufficient number of functional bathrooms often turns a basic need into a quest. Of those available, only 4 or 5 stalls serve the entire student body, creating long lines and undue stress.

Consider the reality when temperatures drop to 20 degrees, or heavy rain lashes down. Students are forced outdoors to reach a facility that should be comfortably accessible indoors. The journey to these outside bathrooms is not only uncomfortable but also presents health risks. The outdoor soap dispensers frequently fail, leaving students without a basic sanitation necessity.

This situation not only disrupts the learning environment with unnecessary breaks but also raises concerns about students' health and well-being. Imagine needing to use the restroom during class only to find yourself missing important instructions or activities because of a bathroom trip that requires travelling to and from the outskirts of campus.

We propose that Henrico High School's administration open the main commons bathrooms. Doing so will provide all students with convenient access to necessary facilities. These indoor bathrooms would alleviate congestion and the ongoing challenges students face daily with outdoor facilities. It's a straightforward solution that can instantly improve our school's environment and the comfort and health of students.

By opening these facilities, Henrico High School can set a precedent for prioritizing student welfare, affirming the school's commitment to providing a safe and nurturing learning environment.

Join us in our fight to make a simple but profound change that will benefit over a thousand students daily. Sign this petition to open the main commons bathrooms and help us improve the quality of student life at Henrico High School.
