As a parent in Paso Robles, I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact that youth soccer can have on our children. My own child, along with many others, benefits from the discipline, exercise, and camaraderie that comes from being part of a soccer team. With participation rising across our local soccer programs, there's a growing need for more field space to accommodate all the aspiring young athletes.

Currently, the soccer programs in Paso Robles face a significant challenge: insufficient field availability. This shortage not only makes it difficult to schedule practices and games but also limits the number of kids who can join teams. Many children are left without the opportunity to experience the joys and life lessons that come from playing soccer, simply because there aren't enough fields.

Opening the 4th field at Barney Schwartz Park is a realistic and necessary step towards addressing this issue. The park already serves as a hub for community sports, and opening another field for soccer organization use would alleviate the pressure on existing facilities. This  would allow more children to be active and engaged, helping them to stay off the streets and out of trouble. It would also foster a sense of community and belonging, as families gather to support their children and cheer on local teams.

According to a report by the U.S. Soccer Foundation, access to quality sports fields is a critical factor in promoting youth participation in sports. By providing more opportunities for play, we not only invest in the health and well-being of our children but also contribute to building a stronger, more connected community.

We ask the City of Paso Robles to prioritize our youth and the future of our community by opening the 4th field at Barney Schwartz Park.
