Support opening golf courses throughout the county and the jobs those courses support. We’ve heard from all 10 area courses, we believe we have safe parameters of operation that can be adopted and utilized here in San Joaquin County allowing for immediate rehiring of hundreds of residents. In one district 5 golf courses with over 200 people laid off and monthly losses of over 100K each business per month occurring during this shutdown. In Tracy, their golf club is 10 days away from shutting down permanently!    

Understandably it is our #1 priority to ensure public safety but an equally important issue is allowing jobs and businesses to remain viable now and in the future. In this instance we can have a positive impact on an individual’s ability to take care of themselves and their families. 

All of our local golf operations are asking for answers ASAP and I’d like this issue to be resolved by this next Tuesday’s County Board of Supervisors meeting. Beyond that time we’ll have permanently lost jobs and operations, with others soon to follow.

Our County is unique, instead of following what other Counties are doing, let’s establish protocol and parameters that shows our consideration and leadership to all of our concerns including jobs.
