Open ALL CFBISD school parks after hours
The Issue
Growing up in our cherished community, CFBISD parks were more than just a play area ; it was a hub of friendship, joy, and community spirit. For decades, since the opening of these schools in Texas, these parks served as a pivotal gathering spot for families, children, and neighbors alike. Here, under the vast Texas sky, friendships blossomed during countless playdates, vibrant soccer matches, and lively family gatherings.
Recently, however, a decision was made to close the parks after school hours, preventing our community from accessing these vital shared spaces. This decision abruptly disrupts the rhythm of community life, halting the spontaneous play and interaction that foster lifelong friendships and community bonds. As someone who spent innumerable days at these parks, watching these connections form and grow, I am deeply concerned by its closure.
These parks have always been a safe haven for children and families to connect with nature, engage in physical activity, and nurture the social skills that come from communal play. By keeping them closed to the public after school hours, we are depriving current and future generations of these experiences.
We believe that a sensible compromise can be reached—ensuring that the parks are closed during school hours for safety, but open afterwards when it's safe for community use. This approach has previously guaranteed a safe community while maintaining access to a vital community resource.
These parks are more than just land and equipment; it is a part of our community’s fabric—a shared space where countless narratives and connections begin. Let's work together to keep this crucial part of our community's history and daily life available for all to enjoy. Opening these parks after school will not only restore access but also revitalize community spirit and interaction.
In the spirit of community and friendship, we ask the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District to reconsider their decision and reopen these parks to the community after school hours. Join us in urging the district to honor these park's legacy and its essential role in our lives.
Please sign this petition to bring back the camaraderie and joy of ALL CFBISD parks—it’s a vital step towards preserving our community’s vibrant bonds.
