The Issue

My name is Briana , and I am a recovering addict. My journey to sobriety began in an unexpected place—a jail cell. There, in the confines of locked doors and barred windows, sobriety was achievable. Removed from the temptations and triggers of everyday life, I found a clear path to recovery. However, once I returned to my hometown of Cynthiana, Kentucky, staying sober became the ultimate challenge. The familiar streets, the same hangouts, and the haunting memories of past struggles made it harder to maintain my newfound sobriety.

Like me, many in Cynthiana are trapped in a cycle of addiction. According to the Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy, overdose deaths have seen alarming increases in our state. In 2020 alone, Kentucky reported over 1,900 overdose deaths—a heartbreaking statistic that underscores the urgent need for comprehensive addiction recovery resources in our communities. Our town lacks a dedicated recovery center that could serve as a safe haven for those wanting to break free from the shackles of addiction.

Opening a recovery center in Cynthiana is not just a dream but a necessity. It would offer various support services such as counseling, group therapy, and sober living arrangements, which are pivotal in recovery. Having a facility within the heart of our community means that individuals seeking help wouldn’t have to travel miles away to access critical resources. This local center would foster a supportive environment, empowering individuals not only to become sober but stay sober.

We need your help to make this vision a reality. By supporting this petition, you're taking a stand for those who want to reclaim their lives from addiction and make a positive impact in Cynthiana. Let's show our local leaders that our community demands and deserves access to essential recovery services.

Please sign this petition to urge local officials and community stakeholders to allocate necessary resources and funding to establish a recovery center in Cynthiana. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more supportive community for all.
