Open Letter to the National Hockey League (NHL) and the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA)

We’re pleased to share an encouraging step forward in our advocacy efforts.

Christie Paschakis, Founder & Director of SOAR Initiative Canada and Founder of Ontario Says NO MORE, recently met with representatives from both the National Hockey League (NHL) and the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) in separate meetings.

Both meetings were constructive and respectful, and we are encouraged by the willingness of each organization to engage. 

While these are initial conversations, they represent a meaningful commitment to acknowledging the critical issues of sexual violence, domestic violence, and child abuse both within the sport and beyond.

Moving forward, we hope to continue engaging with both the NHL and NHLPA in joint meetings to better understand current practices, education/training programs, identify areas for growth, and collaborate together with healing-centred engagement.

We remain committed to this work and to keeping the conversation going, with all of you by our side. 

This is just the beginning. 

We’ll continue to provide updates as this dialogue progresses and as opportunities for meaningful change arise.
