The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources have a law in their Fishing Regulations each year that clearly states...  “It is illegal to fish within 22.9m (75 feet), downstream from the lower entrance to any fishway or canal, obstacle that does not have a fish ladder ( that number is greatly increased with those that do have a fish ladder )!!! 

This is done to protect the species of fish especially during the spawning season. For far too long this has been allowed to happen and this practice needs to stop! As, the other dams across the Province of Ontario are strictly enforced to protect our fisheries! So, why not this one!!!

In many ways this is not only targeting fish that should be protected in this area under what is spawning circumstances but it's also a form of poaching! 

We all have the responsibility to protect our natural resources and doing thing properly is a critical and important step. 

Looking at another Dam in Norfolk County in Delhi, the Quance Dam has the proper preventions in place ( having both signage and a cable running across below the dam ) and it's strictly enforced! The Port Dover Misner Dam has private property ( with boathouse's within 75 feet of the base of the Dam so a cable is not an option ) however, proper signage installed would give the MNR Conservation Officers and local Law Enforcement the ability to enforce this area that should be protected,  ensuring Trout  and Salmon can spawn undisturbed and be protected!

Please sign and share this petition with as many as possible in efforts of protecting the species in this area like they are at other Dams in Ontario! The MNR are aware of this issue. 

After speaking with many residents in the area many are supportive of this as, many anglers local and non local have been sent away by a selected few that think they are the only ones allowed to fish there!
