We did it! Neglectful for-profit operator Rykka will NOT be taking over Rose of Sharon, Canada’s only Korean Long-Term Care Home. Instead, Korean community non-profit Arirang has been approved to purchase Rose of Sharon from the receiver.

Arirang must now raise $4.5 million dollars to close the deal. They’ve just passed the halfway mark to meeting their goal — so it’s more crucial than ever to donate. Honestly, any amount helps — and all funds go to the purchase of Rose of Sharon. You can also help by following Arirang’s campaign on instagram and facebook and sharing their message.

Personally, I’d like to share that my grandfather, Jong Kil Kim passed away peacefully in his sleep at age 103 last weekend. I’m forever grateful for the compassionate, culturally sensitive care he received at Rose of Sharon in his final years.

Thank you for seeing my grandfather’s humanity and taking action to protect him and many other vulnerable Korean-Canadian elders. By signing, sharing and sending messages of solidarity to those in power, you made this victory possible.
