It is upsetting as an aspiring hairstylist to finish school and my apprenticeship and realize there is so much more I should have been taught. Myself, like many others, were failed by the education system that does not include curly, coiled, kinky textured hair. 

Having my license felt empty, like I hadn't really earned it as I did not know as much as I had expected to know about all hair. 

Please sign and share this petition to help get proper education on natural, textured hair into our schools. No one should finish school missing a chunk of information that diminishes our potential abilities. We should not have to search so much to try to find the missing parts of our education. We should not have to large amounts extra to learn about what should have been included in our foundational education of hairstyling. 

There are so many natural hair textures that are all different, however they are all human hair textures. Let all the aspiring future hairstylists know that their hair texture is just as important as the texture of the other students' hair. 

Let us finally make hairstyling the inclusive learning space it is supposed to be so we can all confidently graduate college with a really strong foundation that we can fearlessly build upon with our fellow hairstylists.
