Fake "Democrat" Eric Hafner is on the ballot for Alaska's US House seat while in federal prison in New York. Hafner is serving a 20-year sentence for threatening to kill judges and other public officials. Hafner has never set foot in Alaska, yet he is on the ballot for Alaska's only congressional seat. Hafner was also on the ballot in 2024. And Outside MAGA groups are using Eric Hafner to trick Alaskans, sending out dishonest ads to boost Hafner and ensure Republican Nick Begich wins.

Eric Hafner's fake candidacy undermines the trust Alaskans place in our election system.

Alaska currently does not require in-person filing for federal office, allowing someone who has never even visited our state to file by mail or email.

As Alaskans, we call on the legislature to pass reforms to prevent Outside meddling in our elections, and prevent people like Eric Hafner from making it onto the ballot. 

This reform will safeguard against opportunists like Eric Hafner, who have no real intention of serving Alaskans.
