The current skate parks at Happy Valley and Seaford are out of reach for many of the youth around Morphett Vale making it hard for many to take up skateboarding. The Southern suburbs increasing population and explosion in popularity of skateboarding, scooter riding and BMX riding justifies the need for a new facility. The addition of a large skatepark in Morphett Vale would most certainly put the southern suburbs at the top of skating destinations around the country and open the doors for national/international competitions. With increased childhood obesity and skateboarding now being included in the 2020 Olympic Games a new skatepark in South Oz's largest suburb is needed.
