The Issue

Musicians are paid as little as $0.003 per stream.

That’s not fair. That’s not sustainable. That’s not a future for music.

We’re calling on streaming services to commit to a minimum of one cent per stream. A fair, transparent rate that values the creators who make the music the world listens to.

Right now:

Major labels receive better deals and higher payouts.
Independent artists are left scraping fractions of a cent.
The platforms profit, while the people making the music struggle

We believe:

  • Music is work
  • Musicians are workers
  • Every stream should count
    We demand:

We demand:

  • A minimum payout of $0.01 per stream on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, and all major DSPs
  • An end to preferential treatment for major labels
  • A level playing field for all artists, regardless of status or backing.

We’re also calling on governments, cultural institutions, and policymakers to:

  • Introduce tax incentives for music support and education
  • Reinvest in live music infrastructure
  • Enforce fairer standards for digital music payouts

The current system is rigged in favor of corporations, not creators. It’s time for a streaming economy that values artistry and rewards the people who power the platform.

One stream. One cent. Nothing less.
