We were very happy to see that last week our story was covered in the local newspapers such as Ilford Recorder, Your Local Guardian, Barking and Dagenham Post and many more. Through this, we have gained more supporters and received quite a lot of supportive comments. We would like to thank our supporters for signing our petition and sharing our story. We also wanted to send you an update about our campaign and other situations.

You may have read in the articles that BHRUT agreed to "write-off" Omisha's debt. Following the pressure of our campaign and the media attention, BHRUT finally wrote to us to say, they would put the debt on hold - but this does not mean the debt is cancelled.

Omisha's £76,000 NHS bill still remains on our records and BHRUT can still pursue us for the money if our circumstances change. The Trust also still has to report our debt to the Home Office, and we are worried that it could have a negative impact on my husband's next immigration application.

This "write-off" means that the Trust has put the debt hold for now, and it means they will not send debt collectors to chase us for the money. This is a big deal for us, and we are very relieved at this win - but our campaign is far from over.

That is why we are still calling for BHRUT to permanently cancel all of Omisha's debt and for an end to all NHS charging for migrants. We are also campaigning for Redbridge Council to provide housing for Omisha and our family, so that she can live and play safely despite being immunocompromised. And we will continue to campaign for justice for everyone against the hostile environment immigration system.

We hope that you will continue to support us in our campaign!

- Reeja & Family
