Bring Back Kids Grassroots Football

Bring Back Kids Grassroots Football
The Issue
Approximately 11 million people take part in grassroots football. The vast majority of these are children. In our league alone (East Manchester Junior Football League) there are approximately TEN THOUSAND kids who take part.
Children are not the super spreaders first thought and their mental and physical well-being is of paramount importance. Why has the government overlooked this important part of our community and society? It is not enough to wait for the investment into primary schools. This was dismantled years ago and will take time.
The government recently acknowledged that the spread of corona-virus is through consistent and continuous contact between people of at least 15 minutes and football does not fit this definition. This was cited in the Premier League as to why Norwich and Spurts players did not have to self isolate for 14 days when in contact with a positive testing player.
Adults can socialise and get drunk together in bars and pubs. People can sit for hours on a packed plane to go on holiday.
Scotland will allow contact sports from 13th July onward.
And yet grassroots Football is still overlooked. The number one participation sport for children in the country.
Bring back grassroots football NOW and let the children have something to look forward to
