Old Dominion University has recently released a statement that they are closing the Raising Canes located on the Norfolk campus and will be replacing the restaurant with a Chick-fil-A. The news immediately enraged ODU students, as there is already a new Chick-fil-A located on campus in the Webb University Center. Not only do the students want more variety, but students living on-campus are pushing for a restaurant that would be open late, as well as open on Sundays (which Chick-fil-A would not). Replacing the Raising Canes with a Chick-fil-A would mean taking away a Sunday meal option for on-campus residents. Students have expressed how they would rather have a plethora of other restaurants to replace the Raising Canes such as Noodles and Company, Tropical Smoothie, Popeyes, Five Guys, and many others. Help me reach out to ODU to encourage them to listen to their students, reconsider their decision, and add a different restaurant to Monarch Way.
