Sarah Burdine started this petition to Oklahoma Department of Corrections

On August 25, 2012, my son Jean-Ciar Pierce was shot and killed in Spencer, Oklahoma.  The Oklahoma County Sheriffs Office is handling the investigation and their main suspect in his murder is DOC inmate Deontae Thomas.

Deontae Thomas is a career criminal and was released from DOC custody on August 23, 2012, less than 48 hours before my son’s murder.  Deontae Thomas kept up his criminal escapades and landed back in DOC custody in 2016 for a multitude of charges.  His crimes have involved offensive weapons, 2nd degree burglary, distribution of CDS with intent to distribute, eluding a police officer, and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He has also been charged with having contraband while in DOC custody. His longest sentence was for 9 years, yet he’s scheduled to be released from DOC custody on December 3, 2019.

We are asking DOC to please review Deontae Thomas’ criminal record, including crimes he received probation on, altercations he was involved in while in DOC custody, his habitual criminal conduct, and ultimately,

DECLINE HIS EARLY RELEASE.

We ask that Deontae Thomas serve, at a minimum, 85% of his 9 year sentence, as he is an ongoing threat to the community and the state of Oklahoma.
