The problem of climate change is often not well-understood or thought about. Signing this petition will signify that you want something to be done about this complex problem that will affect all of us.

Carbon emissions are the main driver of climate change. Carbon dioxide, or CO2, is the largest contributor to the greenhouse effect. After the Industrial Revolution, carbon emissions spiked. The global average temperature began to rise.

My home state, Oklahoma, has an F rating in incentives for solar power, and is in dead last place of overall ratings, according to solarpowerrocks.com. Supporting legislation incentivizing innovation in renewables and incentivizing the renewables themselves is what you are doing when you put your name on this petition. Not only must renewable power and clean transportation be more accessible, but there must also be more innovation to further the reach of renewable power. Signing this petition will show your support for renewable energy and even clean transportation.

Also, the supposed "perfect" way of extracting natural gas and oil of fracking has caused earthquakes in the state of Oklahoma. Alternative energy (wind, solar, etc.) is already becoming cheaper than conventional energy (coal, oil, natural gas). Oklahoma can become a leader in green energy. Oklahoma is already becoming a leader in wind power. We should become a leader in all aspects of green energy, and work with other states to scrub the U.S. power grid free of fossil fuels.

We have until 2030 to slash global carbon emissions in half. However, developed countries have to reduce emissions by a lot more a lot faster so that developing countries can build infrastructure that countries like the U.S. have already built. And so, we have to reduce emissions by more than 10% by the end of 2020. We have run out of excuses and we are running out of time. We have to stop carbon emissions. I cannot stress this enough. We must fix this.

Support organizations that fight climate change such as Zero Hour​, Fridays for Future, or 350.org. You could install Ecosia, the search engine that plants trees. Visit NASA's climate page to view the evidence and effects of climate change. I also encourage signing other petitions or signing up for a 350 group.
