Preservation Oklahoma strongly supports the restoration and adaptive re-use of the Mummer'sTheater/Stage Center. As an iconic landmark of Oklahoma City and singular piece of architecture, it significantly contributes towards the few remaining structures that represent Oklahoma regarding the Mid Century Modern movement.

Mummer’s Theater’s unparalleled and unique design makes it an excellent case study for the avant garde character of designs for which the Modern period is known.  Recently determined to be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places at the national level for its exceptional significance, the structure is one of only a few internationally acclaimed buildings in Oklahoma City.  A critically important piece of architectural history would be lost should this important building be torn down. 

As a promoter of historic preservation statewide, POK is strongly supportive of preserving this structure for its importance to Oklahoma City and the entire state of Oklahoma.
