Right now, Ohio University claims that their Expanded Gender Inclusive Housing is inclusive. However, there are very few halls/rooms outside of Hoover House (the LGBTQ dorm that is not renovated and has no suite style rooms) that allow queer students to stay in unless they abide by the binary rules or put in a request for a specific room to allow them to (staying in a room with someone of the same gender). However this neglects nonbinary students as well as students who are not comfortable rooming with someone of the same gender. EVERY ROOM SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY BE GENDER INCLUSIVE. Why are queer students not allowed the same comfort and inclusivity as cisgender heterosexual students??? Ohio University claims that they support their LGBTQ students, however their lack of housing inclusivity to their queer students says otherwise. Please sign this petition to expand gender inclusive housing to every hall/room. This will allow students to room with whoever/wherever they want regardless of their gender.
