Hi Everyone, I want to first thank you all for your support over the last few days in fighting and demanding for BAR to be changed. I spoke with Jennifer Neubauer (VP and exec Director of Alumni Association) and Jennifer Bowie (wrote the compass article). While they were open to hearing our concerns and were understanding of why we have a negative reception to the summer dates, and I did my best to share everyone's Facebook posts, and thoughtful comments left on this petition, little progress was made. They were focused primarily on perhaps holding events prior to BAR (while still keeping the same summer date) to engage us outside of traditional BAR-which my response was that we collectively want to focus on changing BAR to another 2016 date or in 2017, and additional events prior to BAR is not our focus, and should be left to plan by EBN at a later time (perhaps in between BAR dates). I was then informed that 2017 is now out of the picture (although I was previously informed that it was), because President McDavis is in favor of summer 2016, but that they will take proposed 2016 dates back to him ( I shared with them the dates we voted on). I reiterated the importance of having BAR in the academic school year (fall or spring), and that any other date outside of these semesters will not do and is unacceptable to us as a community. Unfortunately, This is where the conversation ended. At this point, please continue to call the Alumni Association as well as the President's Office and continue to press the issue. I am also working with other alumni to come up with a plan of action for our next steps. I hope to hear back from the Alumni Association in the next few days, and will provide an update when I do. The fight is not over!
