No Mandated Masks in Ohio Public Schools

The Issue

As the State of Ohio begins reopening to go back to normal after being under lockdown for several months. Public School Officials are talking about plans to reopen schools and one of the proposed plans is to require Face Masks for ALL Students. Mandating a Face Mask to wear to school must NOT happen here in the State of Ohio. The CDC or the Center for Disease Control are advising "individuals that are under the age of 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance". There are varies health conditions that can cause trouble breathing such as Asthma. According to a document posted by the Ohio Department of Health which can be viewed here says that the "estimated asthma  prevalence for Ohio in children lifetime cases is 11.3%". the document also mentions that "In 2016, there were nearly 7,000 inpatient hospital visits and close to 50,000 emergency department visits for a primary diagnosis of asthma". Forcing a Student to wear a facial covering would be a violation of the 1st Amendment with freedom of Speech/Expression as well as the the freedom of Religious Practices. Facial Coverings can also cause damages to a student's physical mental health or well-being as the number of deaths in Suicides, large increase of Depression has increased during this time and the possibility of Carbon Dioxide Poisoning alongside other related health conditions. Dr. Russell Blaylock a retired Neurosurgeon  with a degree in Medicine and fellowship in Neurology has said "Now that we have established that there is no scientific evidence necessitating the wearing of a face mask for prevention, are there dangers to wearing a face mask, especially for long periods? Several studies have indeed found significant problems with wearing such a mask. This can vary from headaches, to increased airway resistance, carbon dioxide accumulation, to hypoxia, all the way to serious life-threatening complications".  The Decision should to wear a face covering or mask should be left into the hands of students and their families to make that decision as every student condition is different and therefore should be able to make the best decision for their personal safety as a One Size fits all doesn't work. This Petition is not meant to say no student should wear the face mask or covering but any Student that would like to wear a face mask or covering should have the ability to wear one and the same thing the other way around a student that doesn't feel comfortable to wear one shouldn't have to!
