The Geneva Lodge and Conference Center is an economic driver in Northeast Ohio and an anchor for the travel and tourism industry, the area's fastest growing sector.

A provision was introduced into HB 110 ordering ODNR to take ownership by the end of the year, costing Ohio taxpayers $13 Million for a property that will transfer to them free in 2040. 

This bill was quietly placed without any public discussion by an individual who has personally opposed the property for years, even suing the County over the project using $2 Million of public money to fight it.

SAVE THE LODGE. Keep ownership local. Work with local stakeholders through dialogue to develop a solution.

Save jobs.

Protect sales tax and business revenue.

Preserve property values.

Remove this section from the budget - where it does not belong - and force politicians to work through a solution out in the open. 

The Geneva Lodge is a distinctly unique property with distinctly unique ownership. Sales tax generated by the tourism industry saves local households almost $800/year. Do not handicap the flagship property!

Sale to ODNR will change the makeup of the Geneva-on-the-Lake irreversibly.  It will change the Ohio Wine Country irreversibly. It will change Ashtabula County irreversibly. It will change Northeast Ohio irreversibly.
