The Shelby police officer that inhumanly ran over the raccoon on 11/13/19 should be held accountable for his actions. Even if the animal was sick, rabid, or injured as claimed to be the way the situation was handled was unprofessional and cruel. If it was sick it should have been shot or HUMANLY uthinized in another way. There are rules and regulations for any situation a officer encounters and running down a animal with a car is not one of them. Officers of the law are here to serve and protect. They should be held at a higher professional standered and should handle situations in such a way. How the officer conducted himself was not only VERY un-professional but inhumane in the fact that he put a animal that may have been sick or injured in even more pain. If it is concluded that it was not sick then the entire situation is uncalled for. Thousands of locals are already crying for justice and im sure there will be more in the following days. We need to take notice and actions of situations like this to ensure that the people that are supposed to be peace keepers are upholding the oaths that they take.
