The Issue
Arrest Robert Gibson for criminal trespassing, breaking and entering, and burglary on the property of Jane Smith/Bright Futures Rescue, reputable dog rescuer of 14 years. Mr. Gibson is still free, and has suffered NO consequences for his illegal actions.
In fact, he even failed to show up for several interviews, as finally requested by the Wayne County Sheriff.
But he did appear in a Wayne County courtroom and watch Ms. Smith get sentenced while Sheriff’s Deputies stood by.

We urge the State of Ohio, Attorney General’s Office to investigate the criminal trespassing, breaking and entering and burglary of Ms. Smith's home by Robert Gibson. In addition, we petition the Ohio Attorney General to also investigate the corruption and illegalities in the Jane Smith case in Wayne County, Ohio.
At a hearing held in the Wayne County Municipal Court on 7/9/14, Gibson admitted to having trespassed on Ms. Smith's property, twice (on 5/12/14 and 5/14/14). During his sworn testimony, Mr. Gibson admitted to having reached his arm into Ms. Smith's window and to having entered the enclosed porch, through a closed door. He admitted to have seen a NO TRESPASSING sign near Ms. Smith's front gate. He proceeded to enter Jane Smith's home anyway.
Mr. Gibson claimed that he was looking for his lost dog and did not reach Ms. Smith by phone or email, so he drove to her home. Neither the existence of the dog, nor any previous attempts to contact Jane Smith have ever been found. Robert Gibson illegally entered the property and her home, when Jane Smith was not present on these two separate occasions.

She also works with Guardians of Rescue in NYC who train service dogs for our military veterans.
The Wayne County OH Humane Society, WCHS (a private 501c3), seized all of her animals, including her own and her daughter’s, in a grand scheme to bring in money and garnish community donations for their floundering pound.
Jane Smith’s dogs suffered in tiny cages in isolation for 8 months. The WCHS even put newspapers covering the windows so no one could see the seized animals. No one, not Jane's veterinarian or anyone else, had been permitted to see the animals. The employees and volunteers were forced to sign non-disclosure forms because WCHS didn't want the word to get out that these dogs were happy, healthy dogs.
Jane was found guilty on 44 counts of cruelty, but they had no evidence to prove that. It was even testified in court that the dogs had healthy body scores, were not emaciated or dehydrated, had shelter and veterinary care. Pictures taken at the time of seizure show clean, healthy, highly adoptable, very nice dogs. Any evidence proving Jane Smith's innocence was disallowed in court.
On May 19, 2014, The Wayne County Humane Society, based on the burglar’s statements, broke into her home and absolutely destroyed it, behind locked doors. After an hour of destruction in Jane Smith’s home (destruction that included turning litter boxes over, breaking furniture, dumping trash), WCHS called her and told her that she had to come home. Jane Smith had no idea what was going on. She called 2 of her volunteers to go to her house and they were in absolute shock while they were locked outside of the house. When Jane got home she couldn't believe what she was seeing. Jane had the presence of mind to take pictures, but the Dog Warden, Diane Hudson, frequently threatened, "DON'T TAKE PICTURES OR YOU'LL BE ARRESTED." The witnesses were told to leave as they were also threatened with arrest.
Jane was forced to pay $17,400 a month, (a total of $104,400) to keep her dogs from being killed. This demand for bond money prior to a trial, was found to be unconstitutional in a federal court in Kentucky and is case law, but the Judge didn't care. He disallowed any mention, whatsoever, of the extortion money during the trial. He disallowed everything that would prove Jane Smith's innocence of all charges.
The Assistant Prosecutor was engaged to the Vice President of the WCHS Board but refused to recuse herself. The Judge approved the Assistant Prosecutor's request for a continuance, for 2 months, so she could get married to the WCHS Board Vice President, forcing Jane to pay the extortion money for 3 more months, which was the apparent motive all along. In addition, Jane's dogs were crated in isolation with perhaps a 10 minute walk per day for 8 months.
The entire thing was predicated on a burglary. Robert Gibson trespassed and broke into her house, pretending to look for his lost dog. Who knows if he even had a dog? He lives 90 miles way but claimed he though his dog was there. Who put him up to this? There was never any mention of looking for Gibson's dog at the time of the seizure of Jane Smith's animals, or in the subsequent actions by WCHS. When Jane's attorney stated, "Your Honor, this case should be suppressed because it was based on a burglary" the Judge responded, "I don't want to hear it."
Mr. Gibson, a former law enforcement officer, knows what constitutes burglary and criminal trespassing. Why is he immune from prosecution for these crimes in Wayne County, Ohio? Wouldn't others have been arrested or is it "open season" now for this type of crime in Wayne County?
The appearance and evidence of corruption at many county levels during the entirety of this case must be investigated and actions that were unjustly and illegally taken against Ms. Smith must be reversed/restituted.
