It is critical for all of us to be able to trust that our criminal justice system actually functions correctly to seek truth and justice. Ryan’s case is a clear example where the system has failed all of us. The truth was never sought as medical possibilities were not explored by law enforcement, and to this day Warren County prosecution continues to deny Ryan and his defense team any access to DNA that could hold valuable information about what happened to Sarah. Police never confirmed and clarified Ryan’s words the night of Sarah’s death, they simply took it upon themselves to place their own meanings to Ryan’s words and actions that tragic night he found his wife unresponsive in the bathtub. Police never spoke to friends or family before his arrest to seek further information about Ryan and Sarah’s life and history. The list goes on and on.
