Preserve the Character of Our Ogden Community

Preserve the Character of Our Ogden Community
The Issue
We oppose amending the Lynne community plan or the rezoning of properties located at 140-152 W. 2nd Street, Ogden, Utah from R-1-6 to R-3/CO which would allow a multi-family development in the heart of the historic Bingham Fort neighborhood.
We, as a neighborhood and community, want to see single family housing developed on these properties to remain in harmony with the existing character of our homes and our neighborhood.
Ogden is a great place to live and we need more single-family homes for those who wish to live here on a more permanent basis. Three of the proposed rezoned properties have never been listed for sale on the public market which would allow developers who would build single-family homes a chance to buy them. One property was briefly listed but only gave consideration to the multi-family developer.
In addition, Ogden City’s 2020 Draft Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice prepared by OGDEN CITY COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT states that there is no shortage of affordable housing in Ogden (https://ut-ogden.civicplus.com/DocumentCenter/View/11417/DRAFT-Ogden-City-Analysis-of-Impediments).
Please join us in letting the Ogden City Planning Commission and the Ogden City Council know that we want to preserve the character of our Ogden City neighborhood now and for the future and we therefore oppose the request to amend the Lynne Community Plan and rezone the properties to allow a multi-family development in the heart of our historic neighborhood.
