Dear Citizens,
The Coastal Road matter is in the Supreme Court and will be heard shortly by the Chief Justice of India. In the meanwhile, there is more data to show that Mumbai is likely to be submerged by 2050.
If you are concerned about yourselves, your children and our city, please take 2 minutes to ask our PM and CM how they plan to protect our future. We need you to Tweet, Email, post on Facebook.
We have done all the work in drafting the messages. Please copy and send.
Thank you for your support,

Dear PM Modi and CM Fadnavis,
I am a Mumbaikar, a concerned citizen of the city of Mumbai.
I am sure that you must have read these articles published in the New York Times and the Wire (attached below) regarding the effect of climate change and rising sea levels on Mumbai. From the scientific reports and Government of India studies on which these articles are based, it is clear that most of Mumbai is likely to be under water by 2050.
The new projections suggest that much of Mumbai, India’s financial capital and one of the largest cities in the world, is at risk of being wiped out. Built on what was once a series of islands, the city’s historic downtown core is particularly vulnerable. – Lu and Flavelle, the New York Times, October 2019
As per the most recent IPCC report, global sea level rise is accelerating and will likely increase by between 400 and 800 mm by 2100. While this number may seem small, it adds a significant punch to storm surges. With temperatures rising faster than the more conservative estimates of the IPCC reports, the Coastal Road EIA suggests that “the city of Mumbai needs to prepare itself against any natural calamities likely to occur in future”. – Nikhil Anand, The Wire, April 2019
We are therefore requesting you to please reassess all the major infrastructure projects being implemented along our coast in the light of this new Report. Projects such as the proposed Coastal Road, the Shivaji Statue, the Navi Mumbai International Airport, the Ambedkar Memorial, etc. will not only be at great risk but may also aggravate the problem. The rising seas will literally wash away the public funds that are being spent on these projects.
We have attached various important links as proof of the global concern on this issue:

Yours truly
