A corporate professional, citizen, and resident of Bhiwandi Dr. Imran opened his Gmail account with the horror.

He used to get an average bill of Torrent Power Rs. 25000, but during the lockdown, it super inflated the bill to Rs. 65000/- 

 

Raju Bhai, another citizen has a very bad plight. He didn't give up when he was falsely implicated. He fought and won the case against Torrent Power. Despite a court order, Torrent Power refused to re-connect his electricity connection, refused to pay compensation as per the court order. In this process, Raju bhai lost access to his own flat for 15 years and paid rent.   

Why?

This is not the alone case. In Bhiwandi, Torrent Power Limited has several complaints such as bullying people, sending inflated bills, not paying the charges for using land, falsely booking people for power theft, high bribery, and so on.

When people complain, they are bullying using politicians. It is a talk of the town in Bhiwandi that from the court to police and every politician who takes a morcha against Torrent Power Limited are heavily bribed.  

The government too favored Torrent Power Limited by diverting tax payer's money. In 2019, then Devendra Fadanvis Government decided not to recover 285 crore housing tax due to Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation- First of its kind of corruption.

We, the people of Bhiwandi are fed up with the political, bureaucratic nexus and mafia kind of operations in Bhiwandi. 

This is affecting people, this is affecting business and this is affecting city's development.

We demand from Torrent Power that:

1. It must cancel its arbitrary billing based on "average". It must do actual reading and charge or charge the lowest amount in a year for the entire lockdown period.

2. No electricity bill charges, zero charges to all the factories, power loom, offices other than essential and those opened during lockdown (politicians, medical, groceries, etc. only to be charged) for the entire lockdown period.

3. Torrent must be spent on CSR in Bhiwandi only of the amount it earns as revenue and all these CSR must be visible to the general public. 

We demand from the government that:

1. The decision of Devendra Fadanvis lead the government to waive off the housing tax must be canceled and a criminal case of corruption and embezzlement of the public fund must be filed against all officers including the Bhiwandi municipal corporation.

2. The monopoly of Torrent Power must end. Tata Power must be allowed in Bhiwandi as that is the only ethical company in India in power distribution.

We strongly demand from the decision-maker, take strict action against Torrent Power Limited and stop their mafia-style of running the business. Let them do ethical business.
