COVID 19 is an unexpected pandemic situation,
Everyone is struggling to cope with the challenges the pandemic has brought.

There is a big problem with our education system today. And that problem is fees. Even though the mode of education has shifted online, schools and colleges have been charging full fees, including that for facilities that students are not using. Some have hiked fees. Given the financial stress because of the pandemic, this situation is causing a huge burden on students and their parents.
At the same time, teachers are also not being paid for the last couple of months. This issue is complicated and deserves attention.
Here's hoping better sense prevails.

Our parents are averse of paying full fee-amount during this pandemic.
Reasons are genuine kindly think about the decision made by the institutions -

Many parents have lost their jobs during the lockdown.
Many parents are getting half of the salary,
The business has been under huge losses,
As a consequence financial stability of most of the families has been disrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Our parents want to know on what grounds amounts for various facilities are being charged even when institutions are closed for 4-5 months and will be closed until the situation normalize.

Electricity, water, labs, library, medical facilities, and extracurricular activities, etc are not in use for months.

 

It is promulgated that we are ready to pay fees that are legitimate and reasonable.
Hence we have no problem with tuition fees, however, we do have a problem with paying other fees mentioned above that are exploitative and unreasonable
Charges for above mentioned must be scrapped for this session present time, We all urge you to kindly rethink above decision on an individual basis in the wake of the hardships and loss of income in families due to coronavirus (COVID-19) and lockdown.

If the situation would have not been like this, then students and parents may not have come up with these requests or demands.
At last, we are hoping for your kind cooperation and consideration with students and parents by understanding the situation of COVID-19 and lockdown.

I'm putting this petition, to bring the attention of Honourable HRD Ministry, India, & also the government of Maharashtra & Mumbai University about this issue.
